Memorial weekend: crisp, clean and a blast!

Do I start my post by offering a 411 on what exactly we are celebrating here on Memorial Day, or do I just jump in there and share all the chic, breezy and cool details --more like, photos-- that made my long weekend so absolutely memorable?
Ok first obviously let's talk about the reasons why the last Monday of the month of May is known as Memorial Day in the US. Hint: it is not just so we could all run to the nearest beach on the long, usually sunny weekend.
Memorial Day in the United States, is a federal holiday (which means it is recognized and observed in all 50 states) first put forward immediately after the Civil War, to commemorate those who fought and lost their lives while in service. It was later extended to all lost lives in all wars fought by the US military after WWI.
Traditionally on Memorial Day, there are a lot of parades to be followed across the country, the President and commander-in-chief lays a wreath on the unknown soldier's grave at Arlington National Cemetery.

American families show their patriotic respect by visiting cemeteries and honoring those who sacrificed their lives. It is common to see American flags sprouting here and there.
Memorial Day is generally associated with the beginning of the summer school break. It is also why progressively, the holiday has drawn so many families to the beaches all over the land.

In my own personal instance, this year, a former work connection turned beautiful and sincere friend had gracefully extended an invitation to my family. We were to spend the long weekend at her quaint suburban house with her family. And so, it is with great excitement that my kiddo-in-chief helped pack flags, hats and swimsuits  for a breezy crisp clean and patriotic exploration!
