Mr and Mrs Crouch have four kids. All four were born 18 springs ago as a set of quadruplets. Quadruplets!!
As if having three other sibling born quasi-simultaneously wasn't unique enough, Ray, Carol, Kenny and Martina, have yet another reason to be the talk of the town or better yet, of the whole country.
As it turns out, all four of them have just cleared pre-admission process and have been admitted to Yale, recognized as one of the contenders for best Colleges in the world.

"Honey! Yale said YES... four times!" Well changing up the NY Times' title a bit, that is how I imagine one of the Crouch parents announcing to the other, the jaw-dropping news of Yale University's acceptance of their quadruplets. Quadruplets!! (Forgive me if I can't help the interjection...)
This compelling story brought forth by New York Times' Jacques Steinberg is absolutely going to make me feel good for at least the remainder of 2009. From so many perspectives it has the components of a tale to boost one's optimism and faith in an "everything is possible" kind of way.
We are preparing a family trip taking us from NYC to Boston with a stop in parts of Connecticut. Now although the tour is not specifically designed as such, the program sure looks like we are set to tour a bunch of Ivy League schools and highly reputable institutions. Namely: Yale, Harvard, and M.I.T, creme de la creme of academic achievement.
Places I am convinced secretly dream my child would wind up each time an incredibly smart remark, idea or 3 syllable-word pops out of her mouth.

Steinberg, the author of NYT piece, points out the tension hovering in the room when one after the other the Crouch kids take turn sitting behind the computer desk to inquire and find out about their applications to Yale. The tension eases a bit then picks back up when the fourth sibling to get behind the desk has this chip on the shoulder of having her 2 brothers and one sister admitted. Extraordinarily enough, she's in too.
What are the odds for this? Four hard-working High School siblings, committed to achieving academic success being simultaneously rewarded through early admission process.
My oh my, fingers crossed on one day being able to announce that my kiddilou is Ivy League-bound, but for now, I'll just worry about getting her in a good public school pre-K program!
